My daughter is not made of china, nor is she a doll.

My daughter is not a china doll. She is not fragile and delicate and so she shouldn't be placed under glass or high on a shelf protected from the world. She is not a plaything whose sole purpose if for the pleasure of another.

You can love her, you can hate her. You can repect her, you can fear her. But NEVER diminish or trivialize who she is...she is Lydia, she is an individual...she is a future woman...and that should be respected.

Very well said Lissa...I also saw the post on the MSN board and I am also not comfortable with the expression "China Doll." To me, using this expression is like referring to your daughter as an object and it just doesn't sit right with me.

I agree!! I have had so many people generalize our baby! People will say " when are you getting Mulan"?? or "When will we be able to see that sweet little China Doll?" I get so sick of it. So well put!

Very well said. I'm with you on the whole China Doll thing. I don't like it and I won't allow people to refer to our girl that way. I like the way you put this. Thanks!
